POLICIES
TUITION: The monthly tuition is due the first of every month. The tuition remains the same regardless of the number of weeks in the month, holidays, or snow days. Some months have as few as 3 classes or as many as five classes. If we only teach 2 weeks in December we will only charge half tuition that month. Dancers owing two months tuition will be dropped from class at the end of the second month.
LATE FEE: There is a late fee of $25.00 charged after the 20th of the month unless arrangements have been made to pay after the 15th of the month. This fee applies to each month that tuition is late. For any returned check, there is a $30.00 fee.
TUITION DRAWING: We have a drawing on the 10th of each month with the names of all dancers who have paid their tuition on or before the 10th. The winner’s parents get a month of free tuition and the dancer gets to pick a prize out of the prize box.
RECITAL FEE: The recital fee is $35.00. It is automatically added onto the final balance of the cost of the costumes. The recital fee will not be refunded after April 1.
RECITAL COSTUME EXPENSES: The full amount of recital costume expenses my be paid in October or by the tenth day of November. Otherwise, one-third of your child’s total recital costume expenses will be due by October 10th. The next third of your child’s total recital costume expenses will be due by Novermber 10th. The last third of your child’s total recital costume expenses will be due on December 10th. There will be no exceptions to this payment plan. If your child will not be participating in the recital, your recital costume money will be refunded ONLY if we have notice prior to December 10th prior to the recital. THERE ARE ABSOLUTELY NO REFUNDS FOR RECITAL COSTUMES AFTER DECEMBER 10TH.
BAD WEATHER: We will cancel classes if the weather or roads are dangerous. There will be a message on the answering machine AFTER 2:30 p.m. if the studio is going to close. If you are in doubt, please call the studio before you start out. We do not automatically follow area school closings.
MISSED CLASSSES: The studio is not obligated in any way to refund tuition for missed classes. If you are paying by the month, you are automatically getting a make-up class in months with 5 weeks. Dancers are welcome to attend extra classes to make up missed classes by talking to the teacher for a make-up time. Dancers with excessive absences will not be allowed to participate in the end-of-the-year recital. Dancers with non-contagious illness should come to class and watch. Dancers with injuries that require them not to dance for more than 4 classes must have a note from a parent or doctor. Serious injuries or operations will require a parent or doctor release before returning to class.
WITHDRAW FROM CLASS: Dancers may drop out of dance at any time during the month but will be required to pay for the whole month. Dancers will continue to be charged for classes unless they officially inform the studio they are dropping the class.
CONDUCT: Dance Arts has the right to ask a dancer to leave class if the dancer is disrupting the class, showing disrespect to the teacher or other dancers, or using inappropriate conduct or language. If the problem(s) cannot be resolved, Dance Arts has the right to permanently drop the dancer from class. We reserve the right to ask any parent to leave the studio that is disrespectful to a child or teacher.
If you have a problem with something that is going on in class please do not disrupt the class. Speak to the teacher after class in a calm and respectful manner.
WE ARE NOT A BABY SITTING SERVICE. PLEASE DO NOT LEAVE UNATTENDED BROTHERS, SISTERS OR FRIENDS IN THE WAITING AREA WITHOUT PERMISSION. DANCERS SHOULD NOT BE DROPPED OFF FOR CLASS MORE THAN 10 MINUTES PRIOR TO CLASS.
HOLIDAYS: We will close the studio the week of Thanksgiving, for Christmas/New Years holiday and for the week of Spring Break. There will be notices posted and a message on the answering machine stating the dates when we are closed.
ATTIRE: Dancers are required to wear leotard and tights for every class. Hair is to be up and off of the face. Ballet skirts and short, form-fitting shorts are acceptable over leotard and tights. Pink ballet shoes, black tap shoes and black jazz shoes are required for the appropriate classes. Leg warmers are also acceptable.
PARKING: Parking is a problem. We ask that you park in the center of the parking lot if you are going to stay for more than 10 or 15 minutes.
FOOD AND DRINK: There is bottled water in the studio for dancers. Do not bring gum, food, or drinks other than bottled water into the studio or waiting area. If there is a medical reason why a dancer needs to have food or a special drink at the studio, please discuss this with the instructor prior to class or send a note.
CELL PHONES must be turned off during class. No exceptions. If your child uses a cell phone during class, we will take it away for the duration of the class. The studio has a phone if there is an emergency and we will gladly call you to the phone.
